หนังดราม่าเข้มข้นที่สร้างมาจากเหตุการณ์จริงตัวเต็งออสการ์ประจำปี 2011 The King's Speech กลายเป็นภาพยนตร์ที่ได้เข้าชิงรางวัลมากที่สุด ด้วยการมีลุ้นในรางวัลต่าง ๆ ถึง12 สาขา ขณะที่อันดับรองลงมาได้แก่ หนังคาวบอยสุดฮิตแห่งปี True Grit ที่เข้าชิง 10 สาขา และอีกหนึ่งตัวเต็งอย่าง The Social Network เข้าชิง 8 สาขา
       
       ออสการ์ ครั้งที่ 83 ถือเป็นปีที่ 2 แล้ว ที่จะมีผู้ถูกเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัลภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมถึง 10 เรื่อง และหนังเต็ง ๆ ต่างตบเท้าเขาชิงรางวัลมาอย่างครบถ้วน โดย The King's Speech หนังขวัญใจนักวิจารณ์จากอังกฤษ กลายเป็นงานที่ได้ลุ้นรางวัลมากที่สุด จากการเข้าชิงรางวัลใน 12 สาขา, ตามมาด้วย True Grit ของพี่น้องโคเอน เข้าชิงรางวัล 10 สาขา และหนังรางวัลภาพยนตร์ดราม่ายอดเยี่ยม ของเวทีลูกโลกทองคำ The Social Network เข้าชิงรางวัลใน 8 สาขา
       
       สำหรับรางวัลในสาขาด้านการแสดง บรรดาตัวเต็งต่างสามารถผ่านเข้ารอบมาได้ด้วยกันแทบทั้งหมด รวมถึงในสาขานักแสดงนำอย่าง คอลิน เฟิร์ธ และนาตาลี พอร์ตแมน เช่นเดียวกับสาขานักแสดงสมทบอย่าง 3 นักแสดงจากหนัง The Fighter
       
       โดยงานมอบรางวัลออสการ์ครั้งที่ 83 จะจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 27 ก.พ. 2011 ที่ โกดัก เธียเตอร์ ในนครลอสแอนเจลิส รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย โดยมีสองนักแสดงดาวรุ่ง เจมส์ แฟรงโก้ และ แอน แฮธทาเวย์ รับหน้าที่ดำเนินรายการ ซึ่งในส่วนของ แฟรงโก้ ก็ได้ร่วมลุ้นรางวัลสาขานักแสดงนำชาย จากการแสดงในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง 127 Hours ด้วย
