เมื่อวันที่ 5 กุมภาพันธ์ 2552 ที่ผ่านมา ไมโครซอฟท์ได้ออกประกาศเรื่อง "การอัพเดทความปลอดภัยของเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ (Microsoft Security Notification for February 2009)" ซึ่งทางไมโครซอฟท์วางแผนจะออกอัพเดทความปลอดภัยจำนวน 4 ตัว โดยมี 2 อัพเดทที่มีความร้ายแรงระดับวิกฤติ (Critical) และ 2 อัพเดทที่มีความร้ายแรงสูง (Important) สำหรับรายละเอียดการอัพเดทและรายชื่อโปรแกรมที่ได้รับผลกระทบ มีดังนี้

การออกอัพเดทและการอัพเดทระบบ
ไมโครซอฟท์วางแผนที่จะออกอัพเดทของเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2552 ในวันที่ 10 ที่จะถึงนี้ โดยผู้ใช้ทั่วไปสามารถทำการอัพเดทผ่านทางอินเทอร์เน็ตจากเว็บไซต์ไมโครซอฟท์อัพเดท (http://update.microsoft.com/) หรือทำการอัพเดทผ่านทาง WSUS สำหรับผู้ใช้ในองค์กรที่มีการใช้ระบบ Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) ตั้งแต่วันที่ 10 กุมภาพันธ์ 2552 เป็นต้นไป
